ODE has submitted a strategic waiver for ELA, Math, and Science Assessments this year, and as of March 5, 2021, the US Department of Education has not approved or denied the waiver.
The window for the OSAS ELA, Math, and Science assessments opens on April 13, 2021. Per state law, districts and public charter schools must provide parents and adult students with a 30-day notice and opt-out option before administering the statewide summative assessments in Math and ELA using the ODE 30-day notice and opt-out form. To comply with the law, Salem-Keizer Schools will publish the opt-out forms on the district website on Friday, March 12, 2021. To support physical distancing, we have created fillable forms that can be submitted via email. To do this, parents will need their student’s district ID. Additionally, to maintain confidentiality when submitting forms via email, please direct parents to include their student’s initials and district ID, not the student’s full name and district ID.
